Report: Michael Leander's Email Marketing Masterclass well received in Portugal

The infamous Ashcloud gave me a bit of challenge getting from Cracow in Poland to Lisbon in Portugal for the Email Marketing Masterclass. But thanks to two determined Polish drivers, an uncomfortable Citroen Berlingo, 23,5 hours of driving and Joao Ribeiro's determination not to cancel the event, I made it to Lisbon the night before. Here is the report from the event.

The Michael Leander Email Marketing Masterclass was held for the first time in Portugal on 20 April 2010 at the Sofitel Lisbon Liberdade Hotel in the center of Lisbon. Attended by nearly 60 marketing professionals from a diverse group of companies, I was very happy to meet a group of people whom willingly participated and interacted to make my job as the presenter of the Email Marketing Masterclass an easier one.

Bottomline: 93,5% recommendation rate
The evaluation of the Email Marketing Masterclass said that 93,5% of the attendees will recommend it to their colleagues, and every single attendee but one said the expectations were met or exceed. With several email marketers with 10-12 years of experience in the room, I am quite pleased with that result. Especially considering that I was struggling all day to keep my energy level and concentration at a max.

Delegates even thought that I as a speaker did a good job, which just makes that 23,5 hour long trip from Cracow to Barcelona, and the wait in Barcelona to catch the flight to Lisbon a nice experience.

Kodak presentation
The Email Marketing Masterclass were kindly sponsored by Kodak. Unfortunately Thomas Wimmer from Kodak was not able to beat the Ashcloud to make it to Lisbon. So Thomas Wimmer presented an interesting presentation in a webinar format. Although not an ideal way to engage a seminar audience, I thought that his presentation was highly interesting, relevant and had quite a few thought-provoking elements in it. Luckily the seminar attendees found it interesting too, although many indicated that they would have preferred to experience a live presentation.

e-Goi multichannel marketing presentation
CEO of leading Portuguese multichannel marketing application e-Goi, Mr. Miguel Gonçalves, gave a highly compelling introduction to their work and a great deal of case studies about how marketers can leverage the integration of different push - and pull channel (sorry, I mean of course : inbound and outbound marketing channels :- ) . Well received by the attendees, Mr. Goncalves gave his presentation in Portugese. Hence I am not able to give a full summary of the many interesting aspects of his presentation.

Great support from various parties
Seeing that this was Markedu's very first offline marketing event in Portugal, we were very pleased to receive kind support from Canalmail, ACEPI (e-commerce association of Portugal) and  AMD (The Portuguese Direct Marketing Association).

By the way, if you are interested in reaching any audience in Portugal, you might want to consider Canalmail's permission based e-mail marketing approach. From what I gather they have the largest list of permissions in Portugal. And they are also active in other countries.

Email Marketing Masterclass coming back to Portugal
Markedu have received quite a few request from marketers whom could not attend the marketing seminar in April. Based on that demand, they have decided to setup yet another Email Marketing Masterclass in Lisbon in June 2010 and again in November 2010 - the latter being part of the Email Marketing Masterclass Iberia Tour, which also brings the event to Madrid and Barcelona in November 2010.
